
NOVEMBER 2001 BOARD MINUTESMontpelier: Tuesday, November 14, 2001 Attending: George Plumb, Bunky Bernstein, Dave Jacobowitz, Kathy Davidow, Bruce Cunningham, Phil Hammerslough, Jon Kaplan, Ann Kaplan, Becky Cassidy, Dale Critchlow, Amy Bell, Chapin Spencer, Steven (GMBC), Bud Haas Meeting called to order by President, Bunky at 6:05 pm. Minutes for December 10, 2001 Board Meeting: Approved. Fundraising: Bunky reported on possibility of a grant from a small family foundation. Fundraising Packet/Brochure: George distributed samples of brochures from various BikePed Advocacy organizations around the USA. Kathy passed to Bunky some materials pertinent to development of a fund raising packet. Discussion of development of Fancy brochure Vs Spiffy but economical Fundraising Packet. Board agreed that an economical limited printing of a Fundraising Packet was what we wanted. A large quantity Nice Membership type brochure would be developed once we raise funds to get a paid ED on board. Spring Summit: Discussion of holding another Summit similar to last year, sometime in April. Chapin stressed the importance of bringing as many small bike-ped related Vermont groups together at the Summit. It was suggested that it would be an øeducationalÓ type summit with øpresentersÓ, with a theme, øAdvocacy for FacilitiesÓ. Amy suggested Bill Wilkinson (sp) from the LAB as a keynote speaker. Chapin, Kathy and Dave agreed to serve as the Organizing Committee. $10 MILLION GRANT: Bud disrupted the meeting by suggesting that we present Senator Jeffords and the Senate Committee on Public Works and Environment Committee with a proposal for $10 Million worth of BikePed Facilities, Training, and Advocacy Services. Bud was appointed a committee of one to develop the proposal. Bike Safety Training Grant from the GovernorÎs Hiway Safety Council: Phil reported meeting with Kasie and developing a Training Timeline, including training of teachers in February followed by Training at Schools, Rec. and Police Departments before school adjourns in May/June. He will be identifying and building a relationship with at least 5 Schools, and is looking for the first Corps of Trainees. Interested persons should e-mail Phil at: phydeaux@together.net.
